Streaming

This starts in Year 8 where class 1 is accelerated and the other two are parallel. From Year 9 through to Year 11 there is streaming across the year groups.

Accelerated students take the IGCSE examination at the end of Year 10 then study two A level modules in Year 11.

Testing

Year 7 – Year 9: All classes take the same tests: Two Formal Tests and three Quick Tests (short answer tests on recent work, questions read, no notice given) in each half year. Year 9 students also have an end of year examination.

Year 10: As in Year 9 but the accelerated set has its own dedicated programme

Year 11: The first half of the year is as above plus the Mock Examination in January. Timed practice IGCSE papers are taken in March/April.

Year 12 and 13: Regular testing in individual classes at the discretion of the teacher. Mock examinations and timed practice papers are given towards the end of the course.

Software: Autograph 3 and Derive 6 are available to all students. We also have a school subscription to mathematics website: www.mymaths.co.uk

BSCW: Syllabuses, past test and examination papers and various other resources are posted on the BSCW system. Access is by invitation and therefore is available to students on a restricted or unrestricted basis at the discretion of the teacher.
