Leaving GSIS

Student Withdrawal

To withdraw a student, parents must give written notice to the Principal no less than 60 days before the student leaves GSIS. This is excluding the months of July and August. For a student who will not be returning to GSIS at the start of the school year in August, parents must give written notice by 30 April. Failure to adhere to the required 60-days notice period will result in a levy being imposed. The complete document can be downloaded here.

Late Notice Levy

This levy is calculated based on the number of days by which the written notification was late. For example, if a withdrawal letter is received 40 days before the leaving date, then 20 days of levy will be invoiced.

Provisional Withdrawal

A provisional withdrawal letter is recommended in situations where there is some uncertainty, such as potential relocation. Such a provisional withdrawal can be revoked at any time. If the student subsequently leaves the school, the date of receipt of the provisional withdrawal letter will be used as the basis for calculations with respect to the notice period conditions described above. Provisional withdrawal letters are only valid until the end of June in the same school year as the letter is received.

Leave of Absence

A leave of absence may be granted for up to one calendar year in any circumstances where students are to be temporarily absent from school for a length of time. Debenture top-ups and school fee payments are waived during the student’s leave of absence.

Settlements of outstanding invoices

Please ensure that all textbooks, library books and other property of GSIS are returned before your child leaves GSIS. In cases of outstanding school fees and other unpaid invoices, the school reserves the right to withhold the student's school report. Provided all items belonging to GSIS are returned and outstanding financial matters settled, a leaving certificate will be handed out to your child on the last school day.
