GSIS's 40th Anniversary in 2009 is a cause for celebration, and the following events have taken place.

30 September - An all-school photograph in the Sports Hall & Cake Cutting Ceremony

13 November - Open Day at GSIS in the afternoon, afternoon concert and evening concert in the IB Hall

25 and 26 November - International Evening - an evening of entertainment organized by students

27 November at 6:00 pm - Cocktail reception for the whole school community
