Volunteering Opportunities at GSIS

GSIS is very grateful for your gift of time and funds

There are many fun and rewarding ways to get involved with the school and the alumni association. Your support — through volunteerism, participation, and financial contributions — helps maintain a sense of unity among alumni, students, faculty, and friends. It provides the school with resources to sustain its edge as a centre of excellence. Below are a few ideas of how you can help. Click here to get involved.

Fathers/ Mothers wanted for language classes

We would welcome parents getting more involved in school - how about participating in your children's language classes?
We are looking for English-speaking parents to offer support in English classes in the German Primary and German-speaking parents to help in German lessons in the English Primary Department.

If you are interested, please contact Mary Bourke (mbourke@gsis.edu.hk) or Susanne Goschin (sgoschin@gsis.edu.hk).

Parent support at school events

Our students participate in debating, work 'overtime' in the community and they also compete in various areas of sports, to name just a few of the activities our students are involved in. Moral support at these events is a major motivator. Let's see if more people (parents, fellow-students, siblings, etc.) will show up to cheer for the GSIS students!

Check the 'upcoming events' items on our web. For sports events, go to here.

Host families for German trainee teachers

In the new school year, the German Stream will have a number of trainee teachers for periods ranging from 4 to 12 weeks. If you are interested in hosting a German trainee teacher in exchange for homework support and German tuition for your children, please contact our HR Manager, Ms Vaih, at svaih@gsis.edu.hk.

Help GSIS Support Tsunami Hit Thai Primary School

In Hong Kong’s busy society, GSIS understands that you may not have the time to actively participate in the school community. You can however make an indirect contribution by helping GSIS support others in need.

GSIS actively works with the Markus Knosel Foundation, which supports Tsunami affected schools in Thailand. GSIS has helped Ban Kura Primary School to complete reconstruction of their existing facilities as well as to build a multi-purpose conference hall – the first two phases of a three-phase construction programme. The final phase will include the construction of a kitchen and other facilities, which with your meaningful contribution, will enable the children of Ban Kura Primary to enjoy a hot lunch every day.

For further information on how you can get involved, please visit the Markus Knosel Foundation website.

If you would like to find out where the Ban Kura Primary School is situated, click here and look for Kuraburi.
