Knitwits
GSIS Knit Wits is an Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) club, started in the year 1999, which teaches students the skill of knitting. It was the brainchild of Mrs. Shaw and Mrs. Woodrow, who both share a passion for yarn! Initially, squares were made and then formed into blankets, which were then sent to Xining Children’s Home (XCH) in Qinghai, China: over 170 blankets were sent!
Projects

Knit Wits is currently cooperating with the Environment Protection Club (EPC) to produce bags knitted from plastic bag cut into strips. Watch out for the GREEN GUCCI!

Christian Action Xining Sharing evening is on December 8th.

Scarves and other items of clothing have also been produced and are sold at the annual Christmas Bazaar. To date, around HKD$20,000 has been donated specifically for the use of XCH.

Recently in 2006, Knit Wits became incorporated into the Community Involvement Group (CIG) and started to participate in many other diverse charity events. Hoping to be active in the CIG’s campaign, it also plans and do combine projects with other community groups.
