CIG | | The Community Involvement Group (CIG) is the umbrella organization for all charity work at GSIS. It provides a forum between the different charity-related organizations to ensure maximum cooperation, in addition to providing support for individual students or classes wishing to run charity projects. The CIG is also responsible for coordinating whole-school efforts, such as fundraising or goods collection activities. | | Recent events | Well done to the Primary School for raising over $152,000 for the Earthquake and Cyclone Appeal.
| Upcoming Events | $13,950 has been raised for the cyclone appeal. TRUNKAID students' Pizza day raised around $1,000 which they have agreed to donate to Medecins Sans Frontieres for the Cyclone Nargis Appeal. Prefects have also added $1,050 to the appeal from the Knockout. Most of the donations have come from the generous donations of parents.

They plan further fund-raising to help the disaster relief effort, including a student-staff Cricket Match.
| GSIS has raised $32,470 for Red Cross so far for the China Earthquake appeal. In addition to the spare change collection we thank the GSD Drama group's performance of "Eine ODysee" which raised $11,100. 7B raised $2100 from the bake sales on Thursday. 6B also raised over $1600. 7D raised $1760 from their bakesale.

Activities since September 2007
13th June: We were rewarded by a visit from Daniel and Manuela from Child's Dream who talked to the Y10 Economics class on how NGOs identify the needs and allocate scarce resources to their projects and updated us on the situation in Myanmar.
12th June: Thank you to all students who helped to collect blankets, sleeping bags, toiletries, new clothes and kitchen utensils for the Crossroads Earthquake Appeal. The used clothes donated were sent to St Barnabas shelter for the Homeless.
11th May: Six students took part in the "Push for Rights" Walkathon by HK Committee on Children's Right to raise awareness of Children's Rights in Hong Kong
8th May:$3,000 was raised for the Thalassaemia Foundation during Dress Jeans Day.
29th and 30th April Assembly by Room to Read. Thanks to the hard work of Laura, Jill and Mrs Hirzel, the school has raised a staggering US$10,000 (78,000 HKD) for Room to Read to build a library in Laos. Thank you to the Music department and all the students and staff who helped to make the collection during their concerts such a success.
March and April Christian Action homework help and flag day:Vanessa Ng and Jasmine Wee have been busy organising the EdExchange students teaching English Programme with the refugees from Christian Action. If you can help over the summer holidays please let us know. Thank you to those who helped with the flag day in March and the jewelry stall in April.
26th March: Thanks to all the volunteers for the Flag day for St Barnabas Shelter for the Homeless Society.
February:Well done to Mrs Turnbull's 8D class for organising the Bake sale, raising $1000 for Make a Wish. The donation will be used for granting a wish to a 17 year old boy -Tai with Limb Gridle Muscular Dystrophy (a genetic disorder) to travel to Japan this June.
25th-29th February:Tremendous effort by Heather Pickerrell and her STAND team for highlighting the plight of refugees in Darfur.
23rd February:Thank you Ms Stevenson and students from Interact for helping with the Yang Memorial Methodist Church flag day.
22nd February: Graham Radvin from Summerbridge was delighted by the enthusiastic response to his talk on helping to teach underprivileged children in Hong Kong during the summer. If you are still interested in taking part please email Graham at graham@summerbridge.org.hk.
15th February: Congratulations to the winners of this year's GSIS Idol. The evening raised $20,000 for Christian Action, $4,600 for Room to Read and $4,600 for Unicef appeal to help the victims in China's winter storm.
14th February: Thank you to the CIG and Interact team for helping to organise and deliver roses to students at Valentines.
2nd February: A team of Interact students braved the coldest day this year as volunteers for the Methodist Church Flag Day. On the same day another group of students helped to deliver New Years presents to the elderly at Tai Wo estate with the help of the HKSKH Tai Wo Neighbourhood Elderly Center with the $3,000 donation towards the presents.
*24th & 25th January 2008: Miss SIxty clothes sales raised over $3,000 for the Salvation Army.
*24th December In true Christmas spirit Interact members helped to take children from Po Leung Kuk to Ocean Park at Christmas Eve.
*21st December Members of EdExchange students worked with Christian Action to organise a trip toThe Peak with the refugees.
*3rd-17th December: Thank you to everyone who donated new sports and music equipment to Crossroads Christmas Gift appeal for children in need.
*3rd-17th December: Eight large boxes of warm adult cloths were collected for St Barnabas Society for the Homeless. Special thanks to the anonymous donor who provided new shirts and jumpers from their factory warehouse.
