Thank you for visiting the German Swiss International School (GSIS) Portal. The Portal has been upgraded (21 September 2007) to provide a dual language capability for German and English. 

Users select their preferred language using the "Preferred Language : Deutsch | English" button located at the top right hand corner of every page.

This language preference will remain in effect until a new language choice is made. If you revisit the web site within one month then the system will remember your language preference providing you are using the same PC and allow cookies to be stored on your system (normal for most PCs).

You can see your current choice by looking for a small arrow next to one of the two language choices. For instance:

Preferred Language : > Deutsch | English

This means German content is currently being displayed.

What happens if Dual Language content is not available?

Dual language content may not be available for every page. If the selected page only has content available in one language, you will automatically be directed to the only available language. This will not change your default language choice. You may also see mixed contents of German or English within a page from time to time.

The arrow indicates that German is the preferred language but the user is free to change to English by clicking on the word ‘English’.

Ihre aktuelle Wahl erkennen Sie an der Pfeilspitze vor einer der beiden Wahlmöglichkeiten. “Preferred Language: > Deutsch | English” zum Beispiel bedeutet, dass gerade die deutsche Version abgerufen wird.

Was passiert, wenn auf einer Seite nur eine Sprache zur Verfügung steht?

Nicht jede Seite ist bilingual aufgebaut. Sollte also nur eine Sprache zur Verfügung stehen, werden Sie automatisch auf die entsprechende Seite geleitet, ohne dass Ihre grundsätzliche Sprachwahl davon betroffen ist. Außerdem kann es passieren, dass Deutsch und Englisch auf einer Seite gemeinsam auftreten.

Die Pfeilspitze signalisiert Deutsch als bevorzugte Sprache. Gleichzeitig können Sie durch einen Klick auf "English" in die andere Sprache wechseln.
